About Alissa

I love being a journalist. I have been editing, writing, laying out pages and reading news stories for 15 years after I stumbled into the Eastern Echo's basement newsroom at Eastern Michigan University in search of some work on campus. I was amazed at how quickly I felt at home.

I always have been drawn to providing useful and entertaining information to others. I enjoy the words, "oh, I didn't know that!" I'm thankful journalism has allowed me to inform others (including myself) in many ways and for many years.

Now, as a mother of two young boys and wife of a local business owner, I am ecstatic that I am able to use my skills to provide this service in my own community.

Hi Alissa. I'm a vendor at the Rust Belt. We're having a benefit fashion show on Saturday. I'm contacting you since you've listed The Rust Belt as a place across a number of Patches. I've posted the event in Ferndale and am trying to post it across all other Michigan Patches. If I edit my Ferndale event and change the primary Patch to another, will it stay in Ferndale? I've emailed Terry but haven't heard back and I'd really like to get this out there. Thanks!
