On the article Local Mom Claims Hospital Refused to Care for 4-Year-Old Daughter

I don't know anything about this hospitals policy on insurance and I don't know these hospitals but I can tell you that I was taken into an emergency room in Florida (not a private hospital) because I couldn't breath. Some fool in a white coat and a doctors badge walked up to me and told me I was having an anxiety and I'd be fine. A couple of x-rays later, it turns out I had pneumonia. I had no insurance, they gave me 1 breathing treatment, meds for 3 days, no reference and sent me on my way. A week later, I was back in another emergency room with permanent lung damage. That was in 2006. Since then I've been on meds, nebulizers, albuterol and my lungs shut down Sunday and I almost died. I don't expect to be treated for nothing and I was willing to pay my bill but with a cash payment, they can't overcharge an insurance company.

I can go along with the kindness and the calmness......if it was a hangnail, a splinter or a headache but not when you're child is bleeding profusely from the mouth!

Have to disagree with you. Not long ago, on two seperate occassions, 2 other children got into trouble for the same thing and they were white. Both were suspended from school. One little kid had a toy gun that shot nerf balls and the other was playing "cops and robbers" on the school playground and pointed his finger like a gun and said bang! They were both under the age of 7.

They're talking about international tourists, not American tourists.

It's not just tourists that are taxed. EVERYONE in Florida is taxed. Locals that rent a car, buy a newspaper, etc. pay the same taxes. There is NO tax on food purchased in grocery stores in Florida but if you eat out, you are taxed, EVERYONE is. Florida only has 1 tax and that is sales tax. Where I live now, there is state tax, city tax, county tax, personal tax, etc. Also, newspapers are taxed if you buy them in a store but not in a vending machine.

This for Ralph McGraw. Why dump all the blame on the male population? I know of several female that have 4, 5 & 6 kids, all with different fathers. They could have said "no" but more kids just make for bigger checks and more government help.

The owners didn't make the mess, Mother Nature did. Send her the bill! AND, if it's your city, you should pay to clean it up! That's what you pay city taxes for.
