The ancient Greek aphorism “Know thyself”, applies just as much to conducting a job hunt as it does to other areas of our lives. Whether someone has just graduated from high school, or is making a mid-life career change, it is a good idea to re-evaluate career goals and what steps or training is required to reach those goals.

The Chesterfield Township Library has many resources that can assist people with this part of the job hunt, including books and access to special websites.

Examples of books in the library that can help individuals do a self-assessment of their current job skills and career goals include “What Color is Your Parachute? 2012: a practical manual for job-hunters and career-changers” and “Landing the Job You Want: how to have the best job interview of your life.”

Examples of helpful websites that people can access in the library include “Career One Stop” and “Learning Express Library.” People can use the Learning Express Library at home for free after registering on the website at the library.  Like Career One Stop, the Learning Express Library offers powerful job searching (local and national) resources and in-depth career assessment programs.
