Ex-Teacher from Chesterfield Township Sentenced for Child Porn

Gregory Austin was a teacher at Fraser Public Schools before his arrest for his role in a drug deal.

A 33-year-old Chesterfield Township man, who taught at Fraser Public Schools, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for producing child porn, CBS Detroit reported Thursday.

Gregory Austin is accused of creating a fake Facebook profile as a female to entice young boys to send him nude photos. Austin was a band instructor and teacher in Fraser for seven years before his arrest by Roseville police in March 2012 for his involvement in a drug deal, authorities said.

Numerous images of suspected child porn were found at the time of that arrest on his cell phone. Police also discovered “inappropriate, non-pornographic images of suspected minors, text messages that were sexual in nature that appeared to involve minors, and two pornographic videos, one of which depicted a minor,” according to a prior release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The case was turned over to the FBI Southeast Michigan Crimes Against Children Taskforce. The FBI, with assistance from the Fraser School District and the Fraser Police Department, reviewed some of the images on Austin’s phone and discovered images of 12 minors and students from the Fraser School District.

His sentence also calls for five years of supervised release after serving prison time, CBS reports.
