Thieves Snatch $10,000 Worth of Cigarettes, Cigars in Chesterfield Township

Four men escaped the Tobacco Barn on Gratiot in a blue minivan.

Four men broke into a Chesterfield Township smoke shop around 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, making off with approximately $10,000 of cigarettes and cigars, police said Thursday.

Chesterfield Township officers responded to a burglar alarm at the Tobacco Barn at 46476 Gratiot. Police found the front door glass smashed and the store ransacked, according to Detective Sgt. Deron Myers.

Store surveillance video showed that, minutes before officers arrived, four men forced their way into the store, loaded a large amount of cigarettes into garbage bags and left out the front door, Myers said.
