5 Things to Do at The Selfridge Military Air Museum

The Museum and Air Park, which closes Memorial Day and Independence Day, can also be opened by appointment at other times throughout the year, according to museum officials. 

Here's some things that you can do while visiting the volunteer-staffed museum in Harrison Township: 

Explore History

Interactive displays, such as cutaway and motorized World War II aircraft engine and an Air Traffic Control radar display, bring history to life for visitors. There's also art by noted aviation artists, a World War II LINK trainer that guests can sit inside and a scores of military memorabilia, such as weapons, aircraft engines, military uniforms, military aircraft models and photographs spanning the base's approximate 96-year history.

Adopt a plane 

Do you want a bigger commitment than visiting the museum? You can sponsor a plane by helping maintain and preserve it. Several local groups have pledge their support for the historical aircrafts.

Pay tribute 

A memorial honors military members who died in service and recognizes those on active duty and veterans. Engraved bricks that would become a permanent part of the memorial wall and pay tribute to a unit or individual are available for purchase. 

Shop

A gift shop allows guests to take a trinket from their trip museum home with them.
