Olive Garden Says No to One Chesterfield Location, May Be Eyeing Another

Olive Garden has abandoned plans to build a restaurant in front of Kohl's on Gratiot near 23 Mile, according to township officials. But another location could be in the works.

Olive Garden has backed away from , but a restaurant in the community remains on the table.

Chesterfield Township Supervisor Michael Lovelock said Monday night the chain no longer intends to build a restaurant in front of at Gratiot and 23 Mile Road.

"They're at a standstill right now," Lovelock said after the Board of Trustees meeting. "The parking might not have been sufficient for them."

He said Olive Garden did not give a specific reason for the abandoning plans to build there, but township officials believe parking is the main deterrent.

However, Lovelock said he received an email from restaurant representatives before the meeting in which the company inquired about another location in Chesterfield. The supervisor had encouraged residents to campaign for the business to come when it backed out of the Kohl's location.

He declined to say what area the chain is eyeing at this time. "They're still interested in our town."

Of course they said no to that location. I wouldn't want to locate near the Chesterfield Motot Inn or a K Mart, much less a soon to be closed one. Get Costco to locate in Chesterfield (Michael's Dealership?) and watch the influx of businesses.

I would love to see an Olive Garden in Chesterfield. True, the Motor Inn is a bit of an eye sore. We need to start somewhere. I would love to see the old Kmart turn into a Whole foods or Trader Joe's!

This is beautiful. The billionaire hedge fund manager and chairman of Sears Holdings Corp. is reportedly set to close on a $40 million estate with seven bedrooms and Versailles-style reflection pools on Indian Creek Island, north of Miami. Meanwhile Sears is selling off 1,200 stores and closing 100 to 120 for good, with Florida seeing the most closings of any state.

I know, I know the rich can do anything they want with their money. But if you think they care about this country and are job creators you are sadly mistaken. Mansions and trailer parks.

A Olive Garden would be great. Im in favor of Trader Joes or WHole Foods too. Either one of them could be put into the old Hungry Farmers store there. There is a Dunking Donuts openung up in the BP at 23 and I-94, there is also eventually a Bigbys Coffee opening up across from city hall in NewBaltimore, and there is talk of a Home Improvement store called Menards that would open up by the Walmart in Chesterfield.

Has anyone heard of an update of the Biggby's opening in N.B.? I think it has been at least a year since the couple started this adventure.

Chesterfield is a perfect location for a new olive garden. It is a well known city and new developments are popping up all over. They have shopping centers, movie theater and an olive garden would be a great addition. You'd truly be passing up a great opportunity not developing an olive garden in chesterfield
