Anchor Bay High Student, Shelby Township Teen Killed in Crash

The accident took place Saturday night in Sterling Heights.

Two teens--from Chesterfield Township and Shelby Township--died Saturday night after their car struck a tree and went airborne in Sterling Heights, according to Channel 4

Jovan Nikich, a 17-year-old Anchor Bay High School student, was the passenger in the BMW driven by 19-year-old Dusan Saric, according to Fox 2.

Witnesses told Sterling Heights police the BMW was speeding in the Schoenherr and 19 Mile area around 11:15 p.m. when Saric lost control. The car went over the median, crashed into a tree and was sent airborne. It then passed into the southbound Schoenherr lanes, hit a Chrysler PT Cruiser and landed upside down on a Ford SUV, The Macomb Daily reports.

Two people inside the Ford, a man and woman in their early 30s, sustained minor injuries while the PT Cruiser driver was uninjured, Channel 4 stated.

A candlelight vigil was set for Sunday evening at Anchor Bay High, as friends and loved ones of the two teenagers shared condolences on social media.
