Chesterfield Pedestrian Dies Following Crash

Ryan Specht, 22, had been on life support following a Monday night accident.

A 22-year-old Chesterfield Township man died from injuries sustained in a Monday accident, township police said Thursday.

Ryan Specht was taken of life support Wednesday afternoon and died soon after in McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, according to police.

Police said they had received a call Monday at 9 p.m. reporting that a man was walking in the middle of the roadway on 24 Mile just west of Gratiot Avenue.

As officers responded to the report, police received another call saying that the man had been struck by a vehicle.

When Chesterfield police arrived on the scene, they found Specht unconscious in the road. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Chesterfield Township woman, had been traveling eastbound on 24 Mile Road. She told police she didn't see him until it was too late.

Police said neither alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor in the accident.
