Man Arrested in New Baltimore With Stolen Car, Heroin

A 22-year-old Avoca man was arraigned Friday at 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore on drug and stolen vehicle charges. 

New Baltimore police arrested Tysin Gibson at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a 2002 Dodge Neon that was reported stolen in St. Clair County, according to Police Chief Tim Wiley. 

While in custody, Gibson had a small plastic bag of heroin that he told officers was hidden in his rectum, police said.

He admitted to having drug addiction that started when he was in jail for a previous, non-drug related offense, police said. 

He was charged with a five-year felony of stolen motor vehicle and four-year felony of possession of heroin less than 25 grams.
