New Baltimore Police Beef Up Patrols After Possible Stranger-Danger Incident

Two teens reported a driver called them over to his car Wednesday night.

Police are on the lookout for a driver they deem suspicious after two teens said he approached them Wednesday night on 24 Mile near Washington Street in New Baltimore.

Chief Tim Wiley said a heightened police presence, from patrol cars to bikes, would be in the area as he urges the public to report tips on the possible stranger-danger incident.

At approximately 10:22 p.m. Wednesday, the 18-year-old females said they were riding their bikes at the intersection when a driver asked them for directions to an unknown location. When the teens asked him to repeat the location because they couldn't hear him, he yelled for them to "come here," they told police.

Feeling uncomfortable with the man's forceful tone, the teens told him they would not approach his car. He then sped off on southbound Washington, police said.

The teens filed a complaint soon after, meeting police at a nearby school. They described his car as a newer crossover vehicle that was silver with a silver stripe on the rear side. A detailed description of the driver could not be provided to police.

Police checked the area and criminal records for a possible match to no avail.
