Thief Siphons Gasoline from Vehicle Overnight

The following information was supplied by New Baltimore police. Where arrest information applies, it does not indicate convictions.

An increasingly expensive commodity--gasoline--was sought by a thief, or multiple thieves, during an overnight crime in New Baltimore.

On Aug. 25, a resident contacted to report all the gas had been siphoned out of his vehicle tank on his property in the Green Street area, according to a police report.

Police processed the vehicle gas lid for fingerprints, but the surface was dirty and there was dried mud in the finger-lift area. No suspects were known at the time, the report said.

Maybe a locking gas cap would defer someone from stealing.
