Chesterfield Board to Discuss Christmas Tree Biz, Big Daddy's, Waste Contract and More

Chesterfield Township Board of Trustees are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday in municipal offices on Sugarbush Road.

Some controversial issues are scheduled to go before Chesterfield Township Board of Trustees Monday night in , according to the meeting agenda.

Among the matters the board, which experienced its own scrutiny after the three full-time officials, is to discuss are:

  • The request for Russ Mangiapane Jr. to a half-mile down 23 Mile and expand his selling dates from Nov. 13 to Christmastime. Previously, critics of the move expressed concerns the seasonal business would take away customers from local nurseries. Others, however, pointed out that Mangiapane Trees has been in business for approximately 20 years in the township and has to move because a credit union is under construction in its .
  • The extension of the single-hauler waste collection and disposal approved in June by the township board. Chesterfield officials were torn over the contract, citing issues with proposed fees on winter tax bills and increased charges.
  • In closed session, board members are expected to discuss pending litigation the township has with on Gratiot Avenue north of 23 Mile. Last week, the lawsuit, joined by the Michigan Attorney General's Office, drew a.
  • Meanwhile, the consent agenda seeks permission for authorization in Macomb County Circuit Court to demolish a house at 50752 Peggy Lane and structures at 32171 25 Mile. The latter property is 2,500-square-foot farmhouse built in 1900, 875-square-foot garage and 1,500-square-foot pole barn on 40 acres of land, according to a real estate agency website
