State Rep. LaFontaine Beats Shmina in Primary

The incumbent Republican candidate will square off against Sheri Smith, a Democrat, in November.

State Rep. Andrea LaFontaine edged out fellow Republican Michael Shmina in the Tuesday primary election for the 32nd District seat, according to unofficial election results.

LaFontaine received 2,666 or 70.1 percent of the vote while opponent Shmina got 1,138 or 29.9 percent with 100 percent of the precincts reporting, the results show.

She will advance to the November election against Democrat Sheri Smith who earned 2,869 votes, the results state.
