Anchor Bay High School Offers Counseling After Student's Death

Anchor Bay High School student Jovan Nikich, 17, and Dusan Saric, 19 of Shelby Township, died Saturday night in a multi-vehicle crash in Sterling Heights.

Anchor Bay High School students returned to school Monday with grief counseling services available in light of a classmate's death over the weekend

The school district said that counseling was offered after a candlelight vigil Sunday night at the high school that was attended by approximately 200 people, including Superintendent Leonard Woodside, high school administrators, staff, counselors and students. 


Principal Joe McDonald met with staff Monday morning to discuss the tragedy and notified students that grief counselors were on hand, according to the district.

Jovan Nikich, 17 of Chesterfield Township, died Saturday night in a car crash in Sterling Heights along with 19-year-old Shelby Township resident Dusan Saric.
