Greatest Person Profile: Real Estate Agent is Sold on This City

New Baltimore native Brian Powers is dedicated to enhancing the community's businesses and bringing new residents to town.

New Baltimore resident and real estate agent Brian Powers is .

"My parents were born and raised here. I was born and raised here and I plan on being here forever," Powers, 36, said.

Powers was definitely a hometown kid, having worked at as a teenager and graduating fromin 1993.

He worked in purchasing and as a manufacturing supervisor at Chrysler for 13 years, but also earned a finance degree with honors at Oakland University in 2000. In 2002, he became a licensed real estate agent and then decided to pursue that passion in 2008 on a full-time basis.

It was then that Powers decided to become involved with the , prompting a relationship that ultimately led to him serving as chairman of the chamber's board for the past two years.

Through that role, he and others with the chamber have hosted numerous events that give back to the community groups such as the Anchor Bay Community Foundation and the Giving Tree. Local businesses are also promoted during these functions that include the and an upcoming wine-tasting at in November.

"Really we're just trying to be a resource for businesses so they can grow and expand," he said.

When he's not selling area homes for off 23 Mile in Chesterfield Township, he's coaching his 6-year-old daughter's American Youth Soccer Organization soccer team called The Shrimps.

Powers was nominated by Anchor Bay Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Edwards for his extensive volunteer work with the chamber.
