"We are hoping that your local franchise will help with the cost of the two remaining projects, the children's tech center and the youth librarian information area. The tech center is estimated to cost $5,000 and the information area is $4,000. These two pieces are custom millwork items designed by Thompson-Phelan Group, a local company, who have done a fine job in the design and construction of our renovation so far. At our request, Thompson-Phelan awarded contracts to companies in our area," the letter stated.

The Setters responded to the request by donating 10 percent of the proceeds from 4-7 p.m. Nov. 1 from their McDonald restaurants at 35899 Green Street in New Baltimore, 28320 23 Mile in Chesterfield Township, 24627 North River Road in Mount Clemens, 25900 Crocker in Harrison Township, 57065 Gratiot in New Haven and 1617 S. Gratiot in Clinton Township.

Library officials said Tuesday they were grateful for the donation and the tech center, which already is equipped with computers, will open when fundraising for the entire project is complete.
